Remember, I'm nearly indestructible. There isn't much I'm afraid of, because there's not much that can hurt me. That thing--Unicron--scared me in a way I'd never been scared before. It was something out of a nightmare, a great greedy presence that wanted to annihilate all Cybertron to feed its endless hunger. I don't know how I knew that, but I did--I'd seen that thing before, in nightmares, when I'd been down with my own severed head in my hands. Hey, you try getting decapitated and see if it doesn't give you nightmares!
I almost missed Shockwave's order. "SCRAMBLE! Defend Cybertron!"
Iceraker and the others started to move, and I snapped to. Cybertron needed some serious defending, all right! We hit the air and crossed into space, our target as big as a planet.
'Bout as easy to kill as a planet, too. It shrugged off our bombs and lasers like something with armor as thick as continents would. Unicron's lesser defenses opened up on us, and Seekers died by the score. I saw it slam one clawed hand down on Polyhex--
"Shockwave!" My creator's frequency, that had always hummed in the back of my radio as long as it worked, went dead.
A bolt of green light hit Iceraker, only feet from my right wing, and he just... disintegrated. One instant he was there, the next... a fading cloud of metal vapor.
I looked at those evil green orbs as big as cities, and knew I was next. I dove for the streets, hoping to lose targeting among the buildings--
// Midnight? Midnight! Where are you? I lost your position-- // screamed my other wingman, Thunderbolt--
His frequency suddenly died; half a city exploded into flying chunks of building, chunks that were sucked up into the sky, to Unicron. Nowhere on Cybertron was safe from Unicron. Nowhere at all.
I don't remember things too clearly after that. I distinctly remember finding the door to my dreams and plunging through it--
My head cleared, and I'm here, in this dreamworld you call the Nexus.
